Recently, we made contact with GF Piping who are globally renowned for their plastic piping system.
Headquartered in Switzerland, we had the privilege of meeting both Gero Meinecke, Global Market Segment Manager of Energy and Atilla Albert, Public Relations & Communications from GF Piping who came to attend the PowerGenAsia exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur.
Some of the highlights from the conversation was on the topic of capitalising existing expertise for new market segments.
One of the ideas that were explored include floating solar panels on lakes, where plastic piping can be used as a means of providing the floating structure as well as cable management.
Plastic piping has been used as an innovative solution thanks to their corrosion resistance and durability.
“In the case of wind power generation on the open sea, as in the northern part of Germany, salt water is frequently used as a cooling medium, for which plastic is excellently suited,” added Gero Meinecke, Global Market Segment Manager of Energy, GF Piping.
Floating solar installations are yet another possible area that can be explored, with the use of GF Piping’s on- site joining methodology.
Certainly, something that solar providers can explore as they expand into new market segments.
