Celebrating the International Day of Peace
Centre for Peace Initiatives Malaysia (CENPEACE Malaysia) organized the belated celebration of International Day of Peace on 1 October 2019, and MPIA was a supporting organization of the event, which was also attended by MPIA’s head of secretariat Lionel Yap.
The United Nations (UN) established 21 September as the International Day of Peace in year 1981. According to the UN, the theme of the special day for this year is “Climate Action for Peace”, adding that peace can only be achieved if concrete action is taken to combat climate change.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, “Nature does not negotiate.”
