The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) (formerly known as Human Resources Development Fund or HRDF) had a briefing session with the MPIA Committee members on 27 July 2021.
The briefing focused on the extended coverage of Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act (PSMB Act) which took effect from 1 March 2021 and aims to ensure that all employees in the country have access to the training fund.
Under PSMB Act, employers with 10 or more local employees are mandatory to register with HRD Corp and contribute the levy which can be claimed for the employees’ training. Employers that register from 1 March 2021 onwards are given levy exemption until 31 December 2021 to alleviate their burden amid the pandemic.
Meanwhile, employers with 5-9 local employees are not mandatory but given the option to register with HRD Corp.
