Discussion with SEDA on NEM

On 7 October 2020, the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) held a discussion with MPIA to seek feedback on the Net Energy Metering (NEM) programme which has been implemented since 2016.

The NEM programme allows energy consumers to export the excess of electricity generated from their rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to the grid to offset their electricity bills.

Data from SEDA shows that there was a surge in NEM uptake in the last two years.

In addition to the existing NEM programme which would expire by December 2020, MPIA also made recommendations pertaining to the NEM programme post-2020.
