On 25 August 2020, MPIA held the annual general meeting (AGM) which had been delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order.
In his speech at the meeting, MPIA President Chin Soo Mau said while there was delay in holding the AGM, there was no delay in MPIA’s effort to drive the local solar PV industry forward.
“Our engagement with the authorities and other stakeholders continues. The NEM Technical Committee meeting involving SEDA, ST, TNB and MPIA to solve the issues affecting our industry went online when we could not meet physically,” Chin said in his speech read by the Vice President Tunku Akmaludin Zakri Tunku Zuhri.

He said some of the MPIA’s recommendations have translated into policy by the government, such as confining LSS4 bidders to only local companies and allocating certain capacity for smaller solar farms under LSS4 to enable participation of more industry players.
He added that the suggestion for government to lead in solar energy adoption was well received too, and MPIA provided detailed input to the government on solar PPA (power purchase agreement) for government buildings.
