Climate Action Plan discussion at MPHTJ
MPIA was invited to the focus group discussion on Climate Action Plan at the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) in February 2020.
MPHTJ is the first municipal council in Malaysia which has produced its Greenhouse Gas Inventory report that serves as a basis for the local authority to devise strategy and plan to reduce carbon emissions in Hang Tuah Jaya district. It was highlighted in the discussion that the adoption of solar energy – whether through the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems or solar thermal systems – could be an approach towards carbon emission reduction.
Participants in the discussion included representatives from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Malaysia Association of Energy Service Companies (MAESCO) and International Green Training Centre (IGTC).
